This weekend was non-stop sewing of the Obi belt because I didn't feel like hand sewing the sleeve lining. But JOKE'S ON ME, because the obi required quite a bit of manual sewing. Not that I hate hand sewing, but it is inconvenient.
For the most part I followed the recipe Simplicity included but I did have to extend the belt just a tad. The largest size was about an inch or so too small and I was nervous it wouldn't fit around me. My instincts (for once) were on point. The belt fits where it's supposed to. Had to hand sew the hook and eyes and I had to hand sew the back support to the obi itself.
The dress form is to MY waist size. |

I didn't fold it in right, but this is the gist of it. |
I also did some tail knitting today. Haven't shared much progress with that but it is getting done bit by bit. I'm starting the tip of the tail. I think I may get it done this week. 🙌

Starting to decrease and make a tip. |
And since I've been playing around with my 3D printer again, I'm making stencils of Wisteria flowers to help me with the hand painting portion.
So, next steps are:
- Finish sewing the lining on the sleeves.
- Finish knitting the tail and add some stuffing.
- Hand paint Wisteria flowers onto the kimono.
- Paint the Mask
- Modify the Parasol
- Get a photo backdrop
And then I can focus on knitting and illustrating...oh and maybe get back to making art for my game. 😖 I want to finish it. I'm trying! But then I found pattern pieces of a dress I'd been meaning to finish but lost the instructions. However, found someone going through the pattern on YouTube so now I sorta do have instructions and can finish my pretty sundress for summer.
